The Tornado’s unique airflow dynamics creates a swirling vortex of air causing a fast-burn effect in the combustion chamber. This creates finer particles (atomized fuel), allowing better flame propagation and more complete combustion, resulting in gas mileage increases averaging 1 to 2 MPG. These figures are confirmed by road testing performed at an emission lab licensed by the EPA
The swirling effect or Vortex effect, is exactly what GM had in mind when making there Vortec engines that swirling effect has proven to make horsepower and increase your fuel mileage.

A lot of you blog readers might have read my earlier posts that mentioned fuel savings. We now have a new vehicle-specific item that can offer you fuel savings and hp increase as well. The Tornado install in the air inlet hose between the throttle body and air filter box. For carburettor engines, it goes right inside the air filter housing under the air cleaner top.
Many people will be skeptical of this item, and I can’t blame them. For years people have offered solutions and additives to increasing fuel mileage and all these solutions have been nothing but snake oil. The Tornado is different from other solutions and additives because it can be removed. People that do drive with it, do claim to have an increase of a few horse power, and anwhere from 1-3 mpg increase. You can get your money back from saving on fuel in a few months.
Also, just like with the K&N items, you can pick the exact Tornado you need by selecting your vehicle. All of the tornado products are priced well below the MSRP. Also, we have a manufacturers Tornado Rebate form you can download.

As promised in my previous post, I was going to explain why K&N air/oil filters, intake kits, etc were cool. I want to avoid most of the marketing stuff you will find on the K&N website, and give you the true reasons:
1. K&N intake kits and air filters will give you noticeable gains in performance.
2. K&N intake kits and air filters will make give you better fuel economy. Most people report 1-3 MPG increase
3. K&N air filters are reusable. Just wash them, and reuse them. This is more environmentally friendly, which we think is cool.
4. K&N oil filters are premium. Heavy duty, rugged, made in the USA. K&N oil filters are quality. Nuff said.
5. K&N air filters are covered by a million mile warranty.
6. K&N oil filters come with a 1″ nut (17mm for motorcycle) so it can be easily wrenched-off.
Also, our K&N products are cheaper then the competition, and ships sooner. Coupled with our vehicle specific search, you can’t go wrong with getting your next K&N air filter, oil filter, intake kit, etc from Coolparts.com

Any wrong part is not cool :-). We have just launched a new project on Coolparts.com which will allow you to find a part based on your vehicles year, make, model, and engine or submodel. At the present time, most of the parts on Coolparts.com are not make/model specific. For example, we have Tools, Creepers, etc which can be used on almost any vehicle. However, our awesome K&N filter line required a vehicle specific search. There are over 1800+ K&N oil filters, air filters, intake systems, etc on Coolparts.
If you already knew ahead of time what filter you wanted, you can just search for it by model number. I personally recommend using the year, make, model search to confirm that the K&N product you want will actually match your vehicle. Some of you may ask if the only year, make, model specific part we plan to sell is the K&N filters. The answer is no. We are currently in the process of working with the many vendors to help us build our parts compatibility database.
I was planning on writing why we chose K&N as one of our vendors, but I will save that for another post.

I’ve been working in the parts industry since 1981. I can hardly wait to see all the new Cool items that are going to appear on the coolparts.com website.
One of the things I enjoy is new tools. I don’t know about you, but new specialty tools using new technology really is fun to use and sell. I don’t know why this took so long, but the rechargeable LED shop light found at coolparts.com is really handy.
Cool tools? I think this is a neat idea. It’s a cordless, rechargeable, superbright Led shop light with a magnetic base. This shop light is super bright with 30 LED bulbs (last a long time).
It is can be charged by 110 current or plug into your cigarette lighter so it’s always charged and ready to go. Put one in your car or truck or minivan and you always have a bright light to use. Change a flat tire in the middle of the night, or just a trouble light to use in an emergency. Just attach it to the hood or fender and it’ll stay for you.
Look for this item on the coolparts.com website. The part number is 899-1470.
Thanks,
Steve Koch

Finding the right part is a challenge for most consumers. A lot of our customers that know the exact part they need will usually call or email us, and tell us the exact part number. Other times, the customers might know the name of the part they need, but are not sure of the exact manufacturers part number. I can’t blame them because unless you work in the automotive industry, there is no reason you should have to remember exact part numbers.
There are plenty of car sites out there that do an OK job of finding the right part. Usually they will drill you down using Year, Make, Model (not necessiraly in that order), Sub Model. Then they will ask the user to either drill down categories of car parts, or they will present the user with 500 categories that the user must navigate. Some sites implement a search field that allows customers to type it in. Unfortunately, the search is not that great :-).
One of the main things that we are working on is an improved way to find the right part. Finding the right part should not be a ten step process. Nothing should be a ten step process. I don’t want to give out too many details of what we are planning (just yet).
From the consumer side of things, how would you want to find the right car part? Let me know by emailing me, or leaving a comment on the site.
